Goals for the Year 2010

January 2nd, 2010

I normally don’t do resolutions, but I do always  have goals for the year or things that I intend to complete. So here they are in all their glory, and I organized them by my most popular topics.

  2. Get through Winter Quarter
  3. Get through Spring Quarter
  4. Do all the required hoop jumping, and successfully GRADUATE in June!
  5. Find sweet job between now and graduation.

HOUSE:

  1. Finish the bedroom: paint ceiling, add flooring, finish drywall, add crown molding
  2. Make utility room more functional: get other dryer working, add wall, close in dryer & washer, add storage
  3. Finish bathroom: find-purchase-install flooring, paint, add tile (remove junk that’s there now)
  4. Build porch swing for side porch
  5. Fence: move fence back, paint fence, add in front flower bed, install privacy fence where  needed
  6. Vegetable Garden: remove gravel, add “good” soil, plant
  7. Detached Garage: power wash, seal, paint, install flooring, add fridge & stove, put up for rent
  8. House warming party in March!!

BUSINESS:

  1. Do more on foot marketing at local businesses
  2. Promote, promote, promote
  3. Get website up and running tomorrow (woohoo!)

OTHER GOALS:

  1. Run Half-Marathon
  2. Run Marathon
  3. Go to Gatlinburg, TN for the first time for vacation with Steve and camp-depends on the season haha
  4. Go on a cruise/long vacation
  5. Learn to sew

Whew! That about covers it. I think all are reasonable, and they’re all things I was planning to do since about November.

Owning Your First Home

June 6th, 2009

This is an exciting time to be purchasing a home with the tax credit and especially because it’s a buyer’s market. I am actually making the plunge to purchase a  home with my boyfriend, and I couldn’t be happier.

When I went to look for a house I had several things in mind that I wanted, and there were several things that Steve really wanted.

  1. Basement – mostly for a “man space” for Steve, but really just a room we could entertain. We both love to shoot pool, and we really wanted somewhere we could put a pool table and mini bar and things.
  2. I always wanted a formal dining room. I absolutely love to entertain and have always looked forward to saying, “Let’s have Thanksgiving at mine this year.”
  3. A decent sized yard for the dogs. We will be taking the reins of Elway, my mom’s german shepherd, and we want to get him a buddy. So we needed a yard large enough.
  4. Either a master bathroom or a way we could invest in putting one in.
  5. A walk in closet for the master bedroom, or a way to make one or put in closet space.
  6. A place to put a study, mainly for school but also for my website designing business. I need a place where I can go and just focus on that without being disturbed by other jobs that may need finished around the house.
  7. A kitchen with enough counter space and storage.
  8. “Harry Potter” door and area to be fun for future kids and introducing them to reading.
